Spring Concert 2012

The band played at the Cobham Village Hall on Saturday 12th May, with a Spring Concert featuring music from America and Europe.

17 pieces of music were played covering a wide variety of styles including marches, fanfares, contest pieces, musicals, films and a quintet. Amongst the pieces played were a selection from West Side Story, Braveheart, Kenilworth, Amparita Roca and Music. There were also a few of the almost obligatory bad jokes from the Conductor!

Two of the band’s new Timpani (partly purchased with generous support from R C Sherriff Trust) were played for the first time at a concert and featured particularly in Braveheart.

The three prize cups that the band has recently won were on display at the front of the stage.

The Cobham Band returned from the annual SCABA (Southern Counties Amateur Band Association) Autumn Contest in Folkestone with a prize! The band played ‘Three Songs Without Words’ by Eric Ball and came third, winning the Bob Whitehouse Memorial cup.
