Westminster Abbey 2012

The Cobham Band played in Westmister Abbey Gardens on Wednesday 25th July 2012 as part of their “Brass on the Grass” Summer program. It was one of the hottest days of the year so far and a large audience gathered in the the shade of the trees for the lunchtime concert.

The band played for an hour and a half, starting with a piece called Jubilee written by our Musical Director Robin Langdon in celebration of the Jubilee year. Other music included traditional band marches, a James Bond selection, Best of ABBA, All Through the Night and Trumpet Fiesta.

The Westminster Abbey Gardens are a very beautiful retreat from the hustle and bustle of London and this prestigious event is very popular with the band members.

The band finished the concert with the audience standing to two verses of the National Anthem.

Hampton Regatta 2012

The band played on the slopes of the boat ramp at Hampton Regatta in Thames Ditton on July 21st, and basked in the start of a summer heatwave. The event was almost called off due to heavy rain and dangerous river conditions over the previous few weeks but went ahead after some more seasonal weather. The music included some nautical-themed music such as Anchors Away, Pirates of the Caribbean and Water Music.
