Last Night of The Proms

On Saturday 8th of September the band returned to the annual Last Night of The Proms in St Andrews Church, Cobham. The event is part of the Heritage Day celebrations in Cobham and provides the audience with an opportunity to wave the Union Flag and sing along to music such as Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory. Guest soloist was Olivia Safe, a superb soprano singer who can claim to be able to achieve the highest soprano voice in Britain. Olivia has performed at many events including with Robbie Williams for the BBC Electric Proms, Twickenham stadium for the EDF Rugby Final and at the Great Hall Of the People in Beijing.

The band usually plays twice on Heritage Day and today was no exception, with the band appearing at Walton Wharf in Walton on Thames during midday to support the event there.

Westminster Abbey 2012

The Cobham Band played in Westmister Abbey Gardens on Wednesday 25th July 2012 as part of their “Brass on the Grass” Summer program. It was one of the hottest days of the year so far and a large audience gathered in the the shade of the trees for the lunchtime concert.

The band played for an hour and a half, starting with a piece called Jubilee written by our Musical Director Robin Langdon in celebration of the Jubilee year. Other music included traditional band marches, a James Bond selection, Best of ABBA, All Through the Night and Trumpet Fiesta.

The Westminster Abbey Gardens are a very beautiful retreat from the hustle and bustle of London and this prestigious event is very popular with the band members.

The band finished the concert with the audience standing to two verses of the National Anthem.
