Menuhin Hall 2019

The band returned to the Menuhin Hall in Stoke D’Abernon on 5th October 2019 for the Autumn concert with a theme of ‘Music from Stage and Screen’.

A large audience including the Deputy Mayor of Elmbridge made for a very enjoyable evening, with music including Les MiserablesConcerto De AranjuezBe A Clown and Bohemiam Rhapsody.

Also in attendance were representatives from the Surrey branch of Parkinson’s UK, one of the Bands  chosen charities for the year, who set out a display of the work that they do locally and nationally.

The Bandsman Of The Year award was presented to Joe Smith for his extraordinarily long service and dedication to The Cobham Band.

scaba Autumn contest

The band entered the scaba Autumn contest on Sunday 29th September which was held at The Hawth Theatre in Crawley.

Having not contested for a couple of years, it was an early start with a final rehearsal at 8:30am at a local village hall before moving on to The Hawth for the competition.

Each band is required to play a test piece and a hymn and the band played The Malvern Suite by Philip Sparke and the hymn Hursley.

No prizes this time but some good comments from the adjudicator.
