The Cobham Band has received a thank you letter and certificate acknowledging the Band’s donation of £250.00 which has been personally signed by Lance Corporal, Matt Kingston, a Royal Marine Commando from Colchester, who whilst on a routine patrol in Afghanistan was shot through the ankle – despite doctors’ best efforts L/Cpl Kingston lost his right leg below the knee.

‘Help for Heroes’ (launched in October 2007) raises money to support members of the Armed Forces, like L/Cpl Kingston who have been wounded in the service of our country. Over a million people have responded to date and millions of pounds have been raised to provide capped grants to organisations and charities best equipped to support them.

The Cobham Band’s charities for 2009 to 2010 are ‘Help for Heroes’ and ‘Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children’ and the Band hopes to be able to send another cheque to both before long.
